The year that was...

This is our second year in the Music scene and below is a summary of our highlights for the year 2007.
January:
Thoughts And Notions released their third single from their album, In Awe of His Amazing Love, which is called Brand New Day over at various radio stations in Cagayan de Oro City. (We are willing to keep in touch to those who would want to help us release our songs over at your areas).

February
Homecoming concert with some of Cagayan de Oro's top local bands who are making their presence felt in Metro Manila and the nation with the release of their own albums. The band Drizzle for Love without Logic, and Fayeed Tan for Di na Nagiisa.

March
Started with new compositions for new materials for the upcoming album. We Managed to finish 8-9 songs of rough copies of the new songs.

April
Band Vacation!

May
We guested on ABS-CBN Cagayan de Oro's CHUY, a locally produced entertainment segment, where the band was interviewed about their story as well as performing live on local TV.

The band also went for a trip to Manila for a 4 night Salvation and Miracle Crusade Concert alongside another OPM Christian band, 23rd Psalm, at the Luneta Park presented by Contact TV.

June

Hillsong came to Cagayan de Oro for a 2 night concert and conducted a Music Workshop where Thoughts And Notions guested and shared their Music to the workshop attendees who came all over from Visayas and Mindanao. The band was also featured on the June Issue of Candy Magazine as they shared ther 5 band commandments. They were also named among the top 5 local bands from Cagayan de Oro through an online poll conducted by Rexona. Fliptunes.net also named them as Manager's choice of the week for the first week of June.

July
The band was lined up for a show at Volume 120db, at the SM CDO carpark building (the new home for original CDO music). The band also went to play at the SM carpark in a show presented by corridor music group in a skateboarding demonstration event. Samsung mobile phone also invited the band to play at their great samsung mobile sale event which was held at the Divisoria Night Cafe.

The Spirit Radio also interviewed the band online as the band shared their deeper story and purpose why they came to be.

August
The great Samsung Mobile sale event invited the band once more to play at the very same venue as they were impressed by their initial participation.

September
The band fronted for Sex Bomb Dancer Rochelle Panganiban in a Love Radio Anniversary Event at the Community Amphi Theater. A gig followed at SM Car Park building for a Car Show Event.
October
The band is named as among the Regional finalists of the Nescafe Soundskool Band Competitions which was held in SM Davao, Davao City. The band competed for the right to represent Mindanao in the National Finals only to lose out to the band's guitarist Erikson and Drummer Adonis' other band Nobelista Pasta. But Nevertheless, it was a tight battle from the beginning to the end.
November
The band has found a new partner in Ivory Records (the record label of MYMP) as they became the new Sub-Distributor of the band's debut album "In Awe of His Amazing Love." The role of Ivory Music is to distribute the album in Major Record bars like SM Record Bar, Oddyssey, and others all over the country. Praise Music still owns the exclusive distributor tag while Ivory Music is their Sub-distributor. This move will help expand the reach and availability of the album. It is still widely available at House of Praise.
December
The band once again for the third straight year joins other college bands in Celebrating the X.U. Days at Xavier University. This month also saw the band guesting at the RPN Radio Ronda's Bagong Kampeon Singing Competition and the Kevin and Keimart's Shop and Win Grand Raffle Draw. They also debuted a new jingle they wrote for Kevin Sardines... Perhaps a sign of things to come? The Chuy Interview was also showed again during the last sunday of the year.
2007 has been a good year for the band. But we are hoping that 2008 would even be a better year. We will be having our Anniversary concert at the Lim Ket Kai Mall Entertainment Hall this coming January 12, 2008. We are hoping to see you there as we celebrate our two year anniversary in the Music Scene. Let me also take this opportunity to thank you for your continued patronage and for visiting this site regularly. A birth of a new production group?

Thoughts And Notions

Somehow, after having been able to step away from doing a hands on approach in managing a band, I was able to take a closer look at the whole band picture and gave me an opportunity to think outside the box. Last December 15, I was able to come up with a huge event in cooperation with the radio and TV network RPN here in Cagayan de Oro City. It was for a huge twin event that was billed as The Grand Finals of the Bagong Kampeon 2007 and the Grand Draw of the Shop and Win At Kevin and Keimart Part 3. Long before this, I already was able to immerse myself in Events Production jobs when Oido Events was still around. We used to bring Rivermaya, Bamboo, Paolo Santos, Hale, MYMP and others here in Cagayan de Oro City for Concerts and events. So basically, I could say that I already have an extensive experience when it comes to Events Production. The event last December 15 was Successful as I might say. Of course, we wouldn't be able to pull this off without the help of RPN's established hosts. It was the first time that (well excluding the Nescafe Soundskool Regional finals held in Davao) three bands which I would want to call as brother/sister bands shared the stage together. My band, Thoughts And Notions, shared the stage with Nobelista Pasta, and EuKryp2. I would want to call them as brother/sister bands because in one way or another, the three of them has a certain connection with each other. Of course, I began everything with Thoughts And Notions. Our connection with Nobelista Pasta is that our guitarist Erikson Gloria, and our Drummer Adonis Berongoy, are also a part of Nobelista Pasta. Eukryp2 on the other hand started out just recently and I wouldn't be surprised if I would find out that the reason why they decided to start a band would have some connection with Thrina, our vocalist. Thrina has been good friends with the band members of Eukryp2 and in fact their Lead Singer, Larah Grace Fermill, once helped me out in getting photos of the band during a gig in SM CDO. So one way or another we already have a connection.

Eukryp2

Eukryp2

It actually all started when the bands went to Davao to compete when they were named as among the Regional Finalists of the Nescafe Soundskool Band competition. Nobelista Pasta emerged as the winner and the right to represent Cagayan de Oro in the Grand Finals held in Metro Manila. From there, the bands' closeness and Camaraderie developed. From there, I began thinking about holding an event that would feature the three bands. But since I was busy with other stuffs, it had to take a backseat. Now when I started planning on the show for our company's Grand Draw, all I had in mind was to only have my band, Thoughts And Notions guest for the event. But since this would be a 5 hour show, It would be strenuous and tiring for the band to take that much beating. So I decided to bring along other bands to share the stage with. So I asked Thrina which band she would want to share the stage with. Naturally, Nobelista Pasta and Eukryp2 came into her mind. I didn't have to panic or start worrying about the event because these 2 bands are good. So when the event proper finally started, Eukryp2 kicked things off. The show was also the Grand Finals of RPN 's Bagong Kampeon 2007, so there were a lot of singing and music on that night. The band did a very good job of keeping the intermissions lively. Thoughts And Notions was the one who formally closed the RPN event by debuting their new jingle created for Kevin Sardines and marked the day as their official day of formally agreeing to be Kevin Sardines' newest endorsers. Thoughts And Notions formally opened the band presentations followed by Eukryp2 and Nobelista Pasta. Nobelista Pasta was the main highlight of the 2nd part of the show as they shared their wining form to the Divisoria Night Cafe Audiences.

Nobelista Pasta

After watching the entire event, I somehow felt inspired to start our own production group. Here in CDO, there are only three production groups who are diligently pushing for Original CDO Music to be heard. Namely, Corridor Music Group (consisting of underground punk/emo/ska bands), Sonata Productions (a group pushing for original CDO art and music artists) and TUA Records (a group that brings popular artists to share the stage with local bands). I still am Thoughts And Notions' band manager, but right now, I feel that I need to step back and let the band grow by themselves. Let the band learn the ropes of the music scene by themselves. And there's no other way to do it but to create a production group where each member of the band would help one another in finding gigs, events, and other band related stuffs. And this production group will feature the three brother/sister bands plus other guest bands that would be willing to join them from time to time. I guess it's time for me to call a meeting and plot out the next steps. Abangan!

It's been a long lull!

Haven't posted for quite some time already. Gigs have been really scarce and Volume, the home of original CDO music has closed shop. It was indeed a very sad dayfor CDO bands when we heard about this. But we sill continue to roll with the times and try to survive in this very cruel music scene here in CDO. So what's new with the band? I've been on hiatus for the last three band gigs happening in September and March. So I don't have any photos of the band's gigs and that's also the reason why i wasn't able to update and share their recent travails. Last September, the band was able to play two gigs on the same night. First stop was at the Love Radio Anniversary event held at the CDO Amphi Theater with Rochelle Pangilinan of Sexbomb Fame. Right after that gig, the band went straight to SM for a gig in a CAR show. October saw the band traveling to Davao to compete in the Nescafe Soundskool 2007 edition. The band made it as one of the Regional Finalists with the strength of their new song (not included in the debut album) called Runaway Angel, a furious, high soaring, power pop track that will blow you away. The band played in SM Davao for the competitions which was headlined by Itchyworms. The band bagged the fourth place in a hotly contested competition and lost the 3rd place (which would have made them as a national finalist to compete in manila). The consolation though is that Thoughts And Notions' drummer Adonis and guitarist Erikson's other band, Nobelista Pasta, made it among the top 3 and gave them a chance to compete in the National finals. After that, the band went on a long vacation and assessed their future. The band vows to bring more good news in the months to come. And hopefully more gigs too! Keep posted! by the way, check out our Multiply site at www.thoughtsandnotions.multiply.com more stuffs there. And by next year, we will be moving our blogsite to a new home there. train your browers there!

Thoughts And Notions' return engagement at the Samsung event.

10082007238

Thoughts And Notions had a good come back show except for the annoying technical problems that they have to wrestle with. During their previous gig in the same event, it was the strong rains that prevented the crowd from gathering to watch the band's amazing set. This time, there was a slight drizzle but a sizeable amount of crowd managed to gather to watch the band's set. Unfortunately, a busted guitar amp ruined some of the band's song. The band shrugged off their initial disappointment of the faulty sound system to deliver what they could do best to give the watching spectator a great show. Thoughts And Notions played cover songs from ranging from international acts like Michelle Branch, New Order, Buses And Trains, Goo Goo Dolls, to OPM artists such as Imago, Session Road, and they even played an anime series Beck's soundtrack called Moon over water. As well as 5 original songs from their album. Below is a video of the carrier single of their album, My Love Song, as played live at the Samsung event.

Thoughts And Notions rocks SM's Skate Event

Echoes_2

The SM CDO Car park area virtually turned into a skateboarding demonstration event as Corridor Music Group and SM City CDO brought together Cagayan de  Oro's top skateboarding afficionados and Corridor Music Group's roster of underground bands. The event was dubbed as "Echoes of Our Hearts." Thoughts And Notions was among the event's special guests where they were joined in by Serabella, Red Whiskey, Supercharger, and Furtherance. It was a rocking skateboarding event that started around 4pm in the afternoon. CDO's top skateboarders strutted their stuff to the delight of SM's shopping patrons. Bands would alternately play in between. Corridor Music Group has been highly distinguished and highly regarded as CDO's premier underground indie production group that boasts of a roster that includes the top emo, punk, and ska bands in the city. Thoughts And Notions provided the different sound among those genre as they brought in to play their brand of "power pop" songs. They opened their set with their own rocking rendition of Bizarre Love Triangle. They then played 2 songs from their album, Brand New Day, and My Love Song. Their set provided as a breather for those people who were slam dancing to the previous bands' music and were preparing for Superflirt's set, who was to follow Thoughts And Notion's set. Overall it was quite a successful event, and the bands managed to let all those echoes in the hearts of those who were watching reverberate all over their hearts.

U.S. Based Internet Radio Interviews Thoughts And Notions

Header_306

U.S. Based Internet Radio Station, The Spirit Radio, Interviews Thoughts And Notions

The Spirit Radio: Where are you from originally and what sort of things were you into growing up?
Thoughts And Notions: We are all originally from the Philippines, down south in Mindanao. Growing up, we belonged to different Christian Churches serving in different Ministries. Youth groups in particular, from music to spiritual formation.

TSR: How did you get started in the music business?
Thoughts And Notions: We started in the Music Business by writing, creating, and producing 10 tracks of all Original Christian Contemporary Music with the intention of sharing our profits as a fund raising project for our Church''s Youth Group. We then got good reviews from our friends and peers, thus inspiring us to send a copy to one Record label in the Philippines for distribution nationwide. Not soon after, they signed us to a distribution contract.

TSR: How long have you been doing what you are doing now?
Thoughts And Notions: Approximately around 2 years already.

TSR: Who were some of your musical influences?
Thoughts And Notions: We are highly influenced by Christian bands such as Jars Of Clay, Sixpence None the Richer, Hillsong, and Switchfoot.

TSR: For those who may not have heard you before, how would you describe your music?
Thoughts And Notions: It''s inspiring, uplifting, and most of all, it sounds new and at par with other Christian artists out there in the Market. It''s Christian Contemporary Pop/Rock Music with still a lot of innocence in it.

TSR: What would you say that most of your songs are about?
Thoughts And Notions: Basically, it''s about our life experiences in living the Christian faith. These are true to life experiences of having encountered God''s love, as told by our songs, and hoping that a lot of people could relate to and be touched by our songs.

TSR: What are your feelings toward Christians listening to secular music?
Thoughts And Notions: In our opinion, there''s nothing bad about it. Not all secular music has bad messages. But one of the good things coming from listening to secular music is that it gives you an awareness of what is happening in the secular music scene now. And as a Christian artist, what you yourself would want to do to create your own music and capture the listening ears of not only Christians, but other people of different faith as well.

TSR: How has God been working in your life lately?  What things has He been teaching you?
Thoughts And Notions: Lately, he''s been working in our life through our music. Everyday it''s a constant struggle and hardship of not only improving our craft, but being able to utilize our status as well as a Christian artist and how we could effectively share God''s love through our music.

TSR: What is the most important thing that you would like people to take away from your music or live shows?
Thoughts And Notions: The most important thing that we would want people to take away from our music is our songs. Particularly the message that we want to share through our songs. We always put in our hearts and in our minds that none of us is bigger than our songs. It''s not about individual talent, creativity, personality, that would bring our band to another level, but it''s because of us as a collective unit which created songs that would take a life of it''s own in touching peoples lives. Our songs'' message, which is God''s Love, is the most important gift that we could ever give to our listeners.

TSR: What is your favorite bible verse?
Thoughts And Notions: Phil. 4 :14 "I CAN DO ALL THINGS THRU CHRIST WHO GIVES ME STRENGTH"

TSR: What things do you like to do in your spare time?
Thoughts And Notions: We have our own different lives to live with school and studies. Some are already working, and some of us also help out in our Church since we belong to different Churches.

TSR: Who is your favorite Christian artist?
Thoughts And Notions: Jars Of Clay, Sixpence None the Richer, Switchfoot, Hillsong, Matt Redman, Steven Curtis Chapman.

Thoughts And Notions at Volume

04072007187Thoughts And Notions' debut at Volume was a resounding success. Volume 120 db, which is located at SM City CDO parking lot building, has lately been considered as the music haven for Cagayan de Oro's local music scene. It is in these walls where the undiscovered wealth of talents from CDO musicians are born. Every Wednesday of the week, top local CDO bands as well as the city's rising stars are gathered to play and celebrate a night of covers and original CDO music. Here in Cagayan de Oro, local bars are more into showband and acoustic music than original CDO music. Volume took the cudgels for the local Original bands and opened their doors to the local music scene. Every Wednesday, the venue is jam packed and cramped as the clamor for the budding local music scene continues to grow. Before any band could say that they have already made a splash in the City's music scene, they should have been able to play here. The events are being handled by a combination of the past and the future of the most promising production outfits here in CDO. Namely, Old School Chuck Bollozos' (Bassist of Gasulina) Punchbowl Productions, and New breed Shaef Trazo's (Vocalist of Gasulina) Sonata Productions. .

04072007182

On this particular night, Thoughts And Notions finally made their debut performance at Volume alongside other CDO bands like Swerve, and China Rose to name a few. For the past few months, Thoughts And Notions has been honing their chops in preparation for future events that would bring them on the centerstage of CDO's music scene's most important critics. Tonight, they came to impress. The band played their hearts out as they showcased four original songs from their album and one cover song. They opened their set with My Love Song and followed by Brand New Day. Bizarre Love Triangle was played next much to the stunned audience. A different arrangement was made for this old 80's song, Thoughts And Notions' way. My Journey Ends followed and they closed their set with Earthbound Angel. The band managed to elicit a warm applause from the crowds and a two thumbs up from the critics. After more than one year of gigging, the band has finally made some very important strides in gaining the respect of their peers.

Thoughts And Notions at the Hillsong Music Workshop

16062007169

Thoughts And Notions was invited to be a special guest at the Hillsong Music Workshop last June 16, 2007 at the Corpus Christi Gym. In what by far has to be the biggest gathering (3,000 attendees) of Christians from all over Visayas and Mindanao, the Music Workshop was a very huge success as different Music Ministries from different Churches learned a thing or two from Hillsong themselves. Hillsong led the opening program by starting the morning worship and shared personal testimonies of God's love as experienced by them. This was followed by an informative talk by House of Praise owner, Mr. Johnny Sy, who gave the audience an inside look on Piracy and how it has harmed the Music Industry. Jasper Lloyd Tan, Thoughts And Notions' founder and lyricist, then came next as he shared their band's story much to the curious attendees' delight. He managed to capture the attention of the audience through cracking amusing stories and gestures as he shared their band's inspiring story. Giving hope to other Christian artists that everything is possible if your heart really belonged to God. Thoughts And Notions then played two songs from their debut album "In Awe of His Amazing Love", namely Savior, and Earthbound Angel. It was the band's biggest performance so far as they played and shared their music to 3,000 attendees from all over Visayas and Mindanao. The Hillsong Concert for two nights was able to draw 5,000 audiences on each night of the concert. The event which was simply called "Blessed" proved to be a perfect blessing for everyone.

Thoughts And Notions at Hillsong Workshop!

08062007156

Thoughts And Notions will be sharing their inspiring story to the rest of the attendees of Hillsong's music workshop at the Corpus Christi Gym this Saturday. The band will also be performing two songs from their debut album. The band is hoping they could inspire Music Ministries and Christians with inclination to music to pursue their artistic sensibilities  in sharing God's love through Music. Hillsong will be coming here in Cagayan de Oro for a two night concert at the Corpus Christi Gym.

Thoughts And Notions Named among the TOP 5 LOCAL BANDS!

02062007143

Thoughts And Notions was named as one of the Top 5 Local bands in Cagayan de Oro City at the Rexona All Fun Fair Teen Camp. The band managed to garner a huge number of votes from their friends and followers during the 2 week online voting event that was conducted at the Rexona All Fun Fair website (www.allfunfair.com). They were joined by top vote getters KBC, Red Whisky, China Rose, and Music Page. All of the Top 5 vote getters were called on to perform in a battle of the bands type contest during the event's grand "funale" last June 2, 2007 at the Lim Ket Kai Mall Atrium. Red Whisky came out as the Top CDO band as they won the contest by a margin of only .3 points against the 2nd place. The remaining placings were no longer mentioned as the event organizers were only recognizing the best among the rest. KBC was the top online vote getter followed by Thoughts And Notions, China Rose, Red Whisky, and Music Page. Thoughts And Notions played four songs, namely a cover of Imago's Taralets, their own rearranged version of Bizarre Love Triangle, as well as their original songs, the fan favorite Earthbound Angel, and the lively My Love Song. This was the bands first time to join a Battle of the bands type contest and they were just happy to share their music, Win or Lose. The band extends their congratulations to Red Whisky as well as to the other bands. Go CDO MUSIC!

Thoughts And Notions Metro Manila Sojourn

Luneta

Thoughts And Notions just had their first ever out of town gig with no less than Metro Manila as the destination point. Organized by Contact TV, a Church Community based in U.S.A, the band played in front of the Metro Manila crowd for four nights at the Quirino Grandstand. Playing back to back with another Christian rock band based in Manila called 23rd Psalm, the band came out as a blessing to their audience as they played various songs by Hillsong as well as cuts from their debut album. The trip was an eye opener for the band as it was their first ever out of town gig. With Travel and accommodations as well as meal allowance shouldered by the organizers, Thoughts And Notions managed to inspire the crowd who were watching the show. Not even the strong winds and occasional drizzle could deter the band from sharing their music.

The band also visited the office of their record distributor, Praise Music, and even took the time to visit Energy FM (a radio station in Manila with local branches all over the country) to tape an on-air interview. This was also the first time for the band to have a gig without their band manager around. Things did go smoothly well, except for some bloopers and mishaps. Over all it was a great learning experience for the band to be given the opportunity to travel and share their music in other cities outside of Cagayan de Oro. The band is thankful to all the organizers who were an inspiration, and a blessing to the band. (More Photos to be uploaded soon.)

Thoughts And Notions Live in Metro Manila!

Adlayoutfinalnewspaper_1Thoughts And Notions will finally be leaving for Metro Manila tomorrow and everyone is already very excited with this trip. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go with the band. It's our first out of town Gig and I'm not around!? Work beckons, and i can't take a leave so the band will have to do this themselves. Ric Dimaano (Thrina's Father) will serve as guardian and Wilbert Tan will substitute for my duties. The band is very excited about this trip and they have been refining their chops for almost a month already. The build up and media milege of this event is so massive that there was an ad about this event aired on GMA 7 and printed in Inquirer Newspaper last monday (May 21, 2007). We hope and Pray we could give you guys a great show.

I was at Matt Redman's Manila Concert!

Redman_giglio_posterIt was a night of pure spiritual inspiration. I was totally blown away by Matt Redman as he came over to Manila to bring God's love and his songs to our country. For the past few days, i've been praying for an inspiration as my band starts it's final preparations for the coming two big events that we would be taking part of. And the Matt Redman concert seemed to spoke to me in volumes that i never even imagined. Louie Giglio, a long time friend of Matt Redman and a well reknowned pastor from the Passion ministry, particularly spoke of the topic for Christians to take a more active role in bringing God's love and his good news to the world. And make worship not just a church event, but as a day to day activity that inspires us to live a life of worship. His talk reminded me a lot as to why i formed my band.  And it even hit home that with Christian music, it's never even about the music. But it's more about God being the inspiration to the music.

I've heard of Matt Redman for quite some time already. I've heard his songs before, but i didn't knew he wrote it. I was so surprised to know that he was the one who wrote the well loved songs such as Blessed be the name, Let every breath, and the powerful song called Heart of Worship. The concert was so powerful that we could see droves of people dancing and jumping up and down to every beat and every song that Matt belted out. Matt came out to play with all his heart in showing how God has inspired him to write such poignantly beautiful songs. Right there and there, i was reminded why i formed my band, and what's the purpose of its existence.

This May, the band will be coming to Manila for a series of concert. A salvation crusade at the Rizal Park. The organizers has asked us to prepare a brief testimony of our band and our encounter with God. I am a bit unprepared for this because this is such a different stage. But after watching Matt perform and Louie gave out his talk, i wound up regenerated. Especially when louie shared this quote by Brennan Manning "The single greatest cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, then walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable." Which also surprised me because this quote can also be found in our song A Love So Real which was inserted by Wilbert. It is such a powerful quote. And it also helped that i got a call from a friend who was able to watch the band's TV interview with Chuy where we were able to share our music and the message that we want to send. An upcoming Hillsong event this June in Cagayan de Oro is also one that i'm preparing so hard for since i'll be serving as a guest speaker in the Music workshop that they have prepared.

I left the concert with so much inspiration enveloping over me. I got a new found inspiration from the person i went to watch the concert with, and I also got a new found inspiration from Matt and Louie. I believe things will only get better from here. If we just don't stray away from our (The band's) main purpose, and from the Love of God. Things can never go wrong. It's not always about the music. There's a far more bigger force behind it. And that someone is God!

What's up with the band?

Poster_2_manila_final_1 Thoughts And Notions has been laying low for close to two months already. Many are beginning to wonder what's happening with the band. Well, we had a busy March due to the band's academic life. Even if we are in a band, our academic life is still a top priority. Lead guitarist Tim Marquez has finally graduated in College and has been welcomed to the real world. The rest of the band members had a hectic time studying for their final exams. Meanwhile, I took the opportunity to explore music related activities outside the band and guess what it landed me? I am now a contributing writer for the country's longest running, webby awards winning and considered to be the biggest Original Pilipino Rock Music source in the country, PHILMUSIC.COM. I've got several articles and write ups posted on the site ranging from International breakout OPM Rock band Rivermaya to the local music scene here in Cagayan de Oro. I was also given the opportunity to co-produce the debut album of the newest CDO Industrial rock band sensation in Manila named Switch. It was really a great honor to be a part of the production team even if our Music is miles apart.

I also had a brief sojourn in Metro Manila where I was able to visit and feel the rock music scene there. It was sad to hear that 6 Underground, Makati's rock music haven, is finally closing because the building that they have rented was bought by a new owner. But nevertheless, i was lucky because i was there on their last night. It was awesome to see bands such as The Dawn pour their hearts out and say goodbye to the venue. It was a full packed crowd and everyone was saying their last goodbye. I also got the opportunity to visit another band hangout called Saguijo. And i was blown away by Paramita's performance. I even got a rare chance to see their drummer Ria doing her vocal chores away from her drumset because there was something wrong with it. It was her first time to sing literally in front of the audience. And because i don't smoke and drink liquor, I love the band hangouts there because they are smoke free and you get to trade your free beers for ice tea or mineral water that comes free with the entrance fee. Truly a haven for those of us who just wants to go see, hear, and enjoy the music. I also got to visit Pulp Magazine's office. And I even got to meet Alex "Phatboy" Lim, the up and coming messiah for bands coming from the south side of the archipelago. A visit to our record distributor's office, House of Praise, also proved to be educational. Though the number of our CD sales is not that up (because of lack of exposure and weak marketing), we are nevertheless thankful that Praise Music is willing to market it further. We always believed in our music, as evidenced by the rave reviews we've been getting for those who were able to buy a copy of our album. All it needs is more exposure. We are hoping Praise Music can do this for us, and word of mouth marketing from you guys would also be a lot of help.

We are currently recording new songs for our new album. And we have already finished recording a total of 9 songs. Some of these songs might or might not be included in the new album. The band, after a full year of gigging around CDO, has really matured a lot. Some bands or our Musician peers in the city might still see us as still too young for the centerstage, but we are really bent on proving them wrong. Besides Thoughts And Notions, the band, is never about individual talents. Nor for personal glory or satisfaction. Thoughts And Notions has always been about God's love and his message for us. And I always rest the band's fate, success, and even failures in his hands. I will always defer to our biggest band manager who is responsible for our career in music. And even if we got snubbed or discriminated by local band organizers, we are not letting them put us down.

On May 24 to 27, the band will be flying to Manila (all expense paid including the air fare, hotel, and even the meal alllowance) for a series of concert at the Rizal Park. The band will be playing a series of back to back Praise and Worship concert alongside another Christian band, 23rd Psalm (who is by the way in the process of completing a record deal with a U.S. based Record Label). The band will also be appearing in Candy Magazine's June Issue (Provided that it won't be moved to a later schedule again). We also had our first ever T.V. Exposure when ABS-CBN Regional network group's program Chuy invited us to their show for an interview which will be aired this coming May 13 in your Regional ABS-CBN channel in Cagayan de Oro. We are thankful for their inspiring comments about the band. Merriam Webster, of Hillsong Fame is also coming to town this June, and I am currently in the final negotiations for the band to guest on their Music workshop and share our story to our fellow Christians.

The year 2007 has been an uphill climb so far... but we got a very great band manager from up above who's doing wonders to our music. We feel so blessed to be under his care. To those of you who still haven't bought our album, you can check out our song samples in our bands friendster profile called Thoughts And Notions. I'm sure you'll like our songs. And then please go grab a copy of our album.

Thoughts And Notions completes one rocking February Gig sked

Vivi_and_thrina

Drizzle Homecoming Gig

February 3, 2007 was definitely a night to remember for two of Cdo's newest band breakout artists. Drizzle flew back to their hometown for their homecoming concert with no less than Thoughts And Notions supporting them and providing to be the apetizer for Drizzle's set. The show was formally opened by 2 cover bands to spice up the crowd. Thoughts And Notions then was up next as they formally opened their set with a rocking rendition of Bizarre love triangle. The audience went crazy upon hearing the band's version of this oftenly covered song. The song surprised a lot of ears when the band tweaked its sound to give the song an edgier side, Thoughts And Notions way. The band then went on to play their original songs bannered by their currently released single Brand New Day. My Love Song was played next as the audience began to take notice of this catchy song. Earthbound Angel was the band's closing song which set the tone for Drizzle's set. The night was a very special event for the band because it was actually the first time that Thoughts And Notions co-founder and currently Drizzle's lead guitarist Wilbert Tan to see the band play live. He was so impressed by the band's growth that he even dropped off comments that the band is capable of competing with other rising bands from Manila. Wilbert, who was a very important part of Thoughts And Notions debut album, then joined his current band Drizzle as they raised the venue to a frenzy with their assortment of cover songs and original songs. The Drizzle homecoming concert was a very successful event where two bands who almost share the same beginnings and connection came out to party and show the home crowd how original CDO music can storm the airwaves in the years to come.

Garmon's Pre-valentine Party

On February 7, 2007, Thoughts And Notions guested at Garmon's resto bar alongside another one of CDO's fast rising artist Fayeed Tan. The band played a similar set with the Drizzle gig as they won the close knitted crowd over with their brand of music. Thoughts And Notions managed to hold their own despite a very small venue. Both them and Fayeed managed to pack the venue with avid supporters and fans alike. Although the equipments were not of top quality, still it was enough for the band to have their music Be heard.

Thoughts And Notions back to back with Drizzle!

Thoughts And Notions will open for Drizzle's homecoming concert at The Pulse this coming February 3, 2007. Both bands share something in common, namely the Musical Wizardry of Wilbert Tan, who is currently Drizzle's lead guitarist and Thoughts And Notions' main arranger. Drizzle, who is currently making waves in Manila, is set to come home to the city where they were first conceived, to play for their fellow Kagayanons. Thoughts And Notions will provide to be the appetizer to the main act as they themselves are no pushover. Two of CDO's newest band sensations will set to electrify the city come February 3, 2007. Both of these bands share a history together as Wilbert Tan also used to be Thoughts And Notions' main music arranger. This concert will be a reunion of some sorts for Wilbert and Thoughts And Notions as they set to share the stage in this one night of musical masterpiece. The story of Thoughts And Notions started as Wilbert's side project with Jasper Lloyd Tan providing to be the band's brains. Right after finishing Drizzle's indie album back in 2005, Wilbert and Jasper, along with Thrina Dimaano, collaborated to start Thoughts And Notions and released their own indie album. A simple project that both of them didn't expect to reach newer heights and opportunities. With Drizzle's departure for Metro Manila to pursue their own opportunities, Wilbert left Thoughts And Notions but not severing his ties with them as he continues to help the band in arranging their songs. Thoughts And Notions on the other hand, was able to snag a distribution deal with Praise Music, which gave the band the opportunity to reach the country's consciousness via their remastered debut album In Awe of His Amazing Love now released by Praise Music nationwide. Not long after, Drizzle released their own debut album under Galaxy Records and started their musical oddyssey. What followed next is as what they say is History.

Both band's history and connection will finally be seen by Kagayanons in a very rare event. With Drizzle mainly gigging all over Metro Manila, and Thoughts And Notions gigging all over Cagayan de Oro City. The concert will finally bring both of these bands together strut their stuff in front of their fellow Kagayanons.

Thoughts And Notions, the Year that was... in a nutshell!

Candid2

Thoughts And Notions had one big eventful 2006. This was the band's breakout year as they officially released their debut album last March 2006 under Praise Music after signing with the record label for a distribution contract last October 2005. They released the song Earthbound Angel as their carrier single and got several radio stations in the city to play it. The band had their album launching at SM CDO, which also began their City wide mall tour which culminated at Lim Ket Kai Mall. While 2005 was the band's initial foray into the local music scene in CDO where they had their debut with no less than Bamboo headlining the event, 2006 was the year where the band got to play with even more well recognized national artists/musicians. The band got to play alongside popular artists such as Budoy and Jr. Kilat, Sheila and the Insects, and even fellow Kagayanon, Popstar Mark Bautista. 2006 also saw the band finally getting some Christian Rock gig events such as the Praisetival which was held at SM Parking Lot and the Kerygma Feast which had Bo Sanchez of Kerygma Magazine to appear with the band. Not only did the band get to hobnob with all of these national artists, they also got the chance to mingle with local rock music scene playing various gigs alongside established CDO bands like Tabularaza, Gasulina, and Fayeed Tan among others.

Getting their music out to a larger audience and sharing their message has always been the band's main mission as to why they came to exist, 2006 also saw them getting good national media exposures. Fliptunes (the country's counterpart to Itunes) carries the band's debut album as part of their catalogue of songs available for download with a fee. The site even interviewed the band (which can be accessed here  http://www.fliptunes.net/interview_20060828.html ) to give them the right amount of exposure in getting their songs out to the world at large. Philippine Daily Inquirer (the country's no. 1 newspaper) also picked the band to be among the winners in their Rockstar Supernova contest, featuring the band on their pages. Fish Magazine (a sister publication of Kerygma Magazine) also featured the band in their October issue, giving them a 2 page full color spread with an indepth review article praising the band's unique sound and message. The year was ended with a very high note when the band zoomed to as high as No. 2 in Numberonemusic's top Christian bands with their songs Savior, Earthbound Angel, and My Love Song ranking as high as No. 3 out of 150.

While it was indeed a very fruitful year, the band also experienced some growing pains as two members from their original lineup parted ways with the band. But the new recruits has managed to hold their own bringing a new sound to the band.

With 2007 fast approaching, what could be instore for the band in the coming year? The band will soon be releasing a new single from their debut album. An upcoming magazine feature is in the works. A new official Website will soon be launched. And the band has started to make new materials for their new album which they hope to release next year. And a whole lot more! Thoughts And Notions has survived 2006, the band is eager to take on 2007 with higher expectations and bigger dreams! Thanks you to all those who have supported the band and may you continue to support us!

Thoughts And Notions at Sandy 101.5 and X.U. Days '06

02122006090

Thoughts And Notions had a very busy Saturday last December 2, 2006 as they guested on Mojo Man's show at Sandy 101.5 and played 3 songs at X.U. Days '06's Batong Bitoon bandfest. Thoughts And Notions played 2 songs live on air at Sandy 101.5, the songs Earthbound Angel and My Journey Ends. Mojo Man interviewed the band asking them a series of questions which help the listeners to get to know more about the band. They also launched their new single called Brand New Day at the said Radio station. Later that evening, the band played live at Xavier University for the Batong Bitoon Band Fest. They opened their set with Brand New Day, Followed by My Love Song, and ended with Earthbound Angel. The crowd were mesmerized by the band's set. Leaving them breathless for that period of time. The band would like to thank Sandy 101.5 and Mojo Man for having them guest live on air and also to the X.U. Batong Bitoon Organizers for having them as one of their special guests that evening.

Thoughts And Notions New Lineup Announced!

New1

Thoughts And Notions has finally announced their new lineup. The band has officially announced the inclusion of Ericson Gloria as their new Rhythm guitarist and Adonis Berongoy as their new drummer. For the past two gigs, people have been wondering why there seemed to be new faces on the band's lineup, John Fernandez and Jun2x Dychauco seems nowhere to be found. Well the official statement has finally been made today. John Fernandez and Thoughts And Notions have finally parted ways after months of trying to fit in together. John, who Jasper has been regarding as the future of Thoughts And Notions in his statements, could not possibly fit in with the band without sacrificing his talents. Jasper had to choose between Thrina (the band's lead vocalist) and John as to who gets to have the priority in fronting the band. It was a very hard decision for Jasper to make but he had to choose Thrina over John because the band was basically built around Thrina, and holding on to both would just be detrimental to both John and Thoughts And Notions. John Fernandez will soon start his own band or may embark on a solo career. He has a couple of great songs all waiting to be recorded and produced. Thoughts And Notions will continue to support John in his future endeavors. Jun2x Dychauco on the other hand has decided to quit the band after undergoing apendicitis. Due to Doctor's advice, Jun2x has relinquished his drumming chores to Adonis Berongoy. Adonis will be joining the band and will also serve as one of the band's main songwriters as he also has his set of songs all waiting to be recorded and be a part of Thoughts And Notions. Jun2x will remain as the band's sound engineer. So far this new line up has already played two gigs together. An acoustic show with Mark Bautista, and at Love Radio Cagayan de Oro's anniversary concert. The band will have a reunion concert with John Fernandez in the upcoming Xavier Days. The band will be playing a rock version of X.U. Hymn which was amazingly arranged by John himself. The band has an actual recording of this Rock version of X.U. Hymn. Interested parties may contact either John or Jasper. Thoughts And Notions' new lineup will also be unveiled in Sandy 101.5 on air as Mojo Man interviews the band live this coming December 2, 2006 at 4pm.

Earthbound Angel included in Praise Music Sampler '06

17102006032

Thoughts And Notions' moving rock ballad Earthbound Angel is now included in Praise Music's music sampler. The song Earthbound Angel have been capturing and touching hearts all over the country with its laid back guitar strums, and a booming accompaniment of bass and drums. With lyrics and melody written by Band manager/lyricist Jasper Lloyd Tan, the song speaks about the traits and qualities of what real and unadulterated love is and should be. Choosing to be selfless in sharing love to a person. Choosing to stay when love can go, and believing in love all over again. Thoughts And Notions is composed of Thrina Dimaano on Vocals, Tim Marquez on Guitars, Alvin Carreon on Bass, and Adonis Berongoy on Drums. Erickson Gloria provides session guitar works. The band has just recently featured on Fish Magazine. Praise Music, the band's national record distributor, usually releases music sampler for their loyal PBC (Praise Business Club) members. Thoughts And Notions at Love Radio Anniversary Concert

21102006045

Thoughts And Notions guested on Love Radio's Anniversary concert at the Cagayan de Oro Community Amphi Theater. In what seemed like a return engagement (The band guested last year in a Love Radio Event in the same Venue), The band played three powerful songs to spice up the mammoth crowd. They played alongside Tabularaza and the Main guests of the evening, Aggressive Audio, hit makers of the song "Ang Tigulag." The band opened their 3 song performance with the song Brand New Day. The audience immediately rocked withthe band upon hearing this electrifying song. Their second song of the evening was My Love Song. And this time around, the audience began to rain down their thunderous applause as this song has been playing in Love Radio for quite some time now. It was followed by Earthbound Angel, their finale. It captivated the entire audience with its powerful message. The band was at its best, bringing along session guitarist Erickson Gloria (who previously debuted with the band in the Mark Bautista gig) to help them in their Rhythm guitar chores.

Thoughts And Notions featured on Fish Magazine

06102006013_7

Thoughts And Notions is Fish Magazine's featured artist for the month of october. Fish Magazine, a sister publication of Kerygma Magazine (the largest catholic inspirational magazine), has made a very eye opening and in depth album review of Thoughts And Notions' debut album. Written by Jomar Hilario, the article discusses about Thoughts And Notions unique sound and their remarkable songs. Comparing them to other local opm bands with female fronted acts. Titled as "What's better than coffee?" The article is a huge two page full page spread that proves very informative in letting people know about the band's music and why everyone should buy a copy of their album. The magazine can be bought at National bookstore and is priced at only P40 per copy. (See above and below for Photos)

Rare Thoughts And Notions tracks exclusively at Myspace and Purevolume

Indie

Three rare Thoughts And Notions songs are now available for listening at Myspace and Purevolume. These rare tracks are unreleased, the 2 which were previously recorded prior to their indie release, and the other one, a later full band version of an acoustic track from their debut album. The song titles are My Love Song (Wilbert's Version), Savior (Stripped Down Version), and My Journey Ends (Full band version).

My Love Song (Wilbert's Version)- This song was the first ever version of My Love Song. Wilbert was supposed to be the original vocalist for this song before he decided to just let Thrina do all the Vocal chores for the album. This version has a semi-acoustic feel, with an amazing solo guitar play towards the end of the track (Different from the Album that was released).

Savior (Stripped Down Version)- This was the band's first ever song that was recorded for the album. But they never released this version because they further arranged the song to make it sound more "Rocker" as what is now included in the album. This was also the song that Thrina practiced/familiarized for only a couple of hours before they decided to record the song. This version is very Raw but it has a softer feel compared to the one that was released on the album.

My Journey Ends (Full Band Version)- Former Thoughts And Notions drummer (and now the band's sound tech) Jun2x Dychauco inserted drum tracks to this acoustic song. The album version was purely an acoustic track, this version has a more livelier sound with the drums bringing in a more fuller feel of the song. The band was able to play this full band version live during their Album Launching and their succeeding Mall tours in Cagayan de Oro City.

Thoughts And Notions at Mark Bautista's pop idol concert

Dsc00871 Thoughts And Notions played an acoustic set last sept. 22 during Cdo's biggest Pop star Mark Bautista's concert. In a show that was laden with so many guest artists, the Jam packed crowd at Corpus christi gym was in for a night to remember. Cdo acoustic band Upstart opened the show with a barage of cover songs, most notably, the eraserheads song medly as their finale. Thoughts And Notions came in next playing 3 original songs from their album. They opened their set with their original acoustic song My Journey Ends as the crowd cheered in approval. My Love Song was played next, keeping the crowd in a bouncy mood with its bouncy beat. Their highly anticipated song Earthbound Angel, their album's carrier single, was their finale and just as the band's lead Vocalist Thrina Dimaano introduced the song, the audience roared and cheered the band on. The song has been playing in the top radio stations in cdo, and because of this, many were familiar and fell in love with the song. After the band's set, Pop idol Mark Bautista was next, opening his line up of songs with Rivermaya's Posible, the official song of the 2005 SEA Games. Rachelle Ann Go was also present to support Mark as she also sang and made a duet with Mark. Mark's old boyband Mensquare also guested on the show. Thoughts And Notions played sans John Fernandez. They brought Erickson in, a sessionist, in his place.

Thoughts And Notions rocks Kerygma Feast

Dsc00862

In the band's first ever praise and worship event, Thoughts And Notions magnificently played the praise and worship songs with so much sincerity. The band played in front of thousands of crowd who were all there to watch Bo Sanchez (publisher of the Kerygma magazine and host of Kerygma TV) give a talk on INCREASING LOVE FOR YOUR FAMILY and HOW TO FIND YOUR ONE TRUE LOVE. Catholic Folk Pop Artist Alvin Barcelona was also a guest on the event who excellently played his song Peacebol, the carrier single from his album Peacebol, to the delight of the audience. Thoughts And Notions (who earlier formally opened the event through the Praise and worship part) then went up the stage after Bo's talk and played 5 songs, Jar's  I need you, their originals, savior, brand new day, My love song, and Earthbound Angel. While the audience began to thin down during their set bec.of the rain, there were a number of youthful audience who jammed with the band and come to witness one of the band's greatest performance ever!

Thoughts And Notions at SM CDO Praisetival street party

Dsc00805_1

Thoughts And Notions came, and they conquered. Debuting in their first Christian rock event, the band brought the house down as they mesmerized the audience with their amazing set. Opening with a cover of Hillsong's All about you, John reved up the crowd to a frenzy as screaming fans of the band's new drummer, Adonis Berongoy, shouted and cheered Adonis on. Thrina then went up the stage and the band followed the song with 3 original songs from their album with Brand New Day first on the list. The band brilliantly mesmerized the crowd as the audience fell silent and listened intenly to their song.  My Love Song was played next on the list, and this time, some audience began singing along with the band as this song was already released on the radio. The band then serenaded the audience with their last song, Earthbound Angel. The audience totally fell in love with the song as the band ended their set. Overall, it was one of the band's most worthiest performance. Thoughts And Notions would like to thank Larah Grace Fermill for the photos and the support. Check out her photo shoots at the photo gallery section.

Thoughts And Notions' gig at Punchbowl Band Blast a success!

Dsc00734

Thoughts And Notions (which debuted with a new drummer, Adonis Berongoy), along with other Southern Rock Bands, made the Punchbowl Band Blast a Resounding success. The Show proper was opened by Old Skul and then was followed by Maria My Star, a woman fronted Emo rock band. KBC went up the stage next and played an amazing set of Rap/rock tunes. Wappak, Ikabaud Krane and Swerve then came in next. Thoughts And Notions was the 7th band to come up on stage and was welcomed by a very warm reception from the audience. They opened their set with a cover of Imago's Akap, which was received with a thunderous applause. Jars of Clay's I Need You was played next, this time with John at the Vocal Helm. After the two covers, the band surprised the crowd by playing two songs from their debut album, Brand New Day and Earthbound Angel. The band rocked the audience with Brand new day as they furiously played the song. The audience gamely cheered the band on as they were quite impressed with the song. Earthbound Angel was the last song that the band played. The band slowed things down with this song, bringing the crowd to a relaxed mood. After the band's set, the audience gave the band a warm applause, which could only mean that the crowd appreciated their performance. more bands came in next with Red Whiskey leading the pack playing well loved opm tracks. K9 livened up the crowd with their screamo set. Fayeed Tan followed, playing all his original songs with so much gusto. Tabularaza played a very interesting set, with the audience singing along to Shewowah. Gasulina was the last CDO band to play as they urged the audience to show their dancing feet. Sheila and the insects impressed the crowd with their set. Powerspoonz, Smooth Friction, and Jr. Kilat finally brought the crowd on it's feet. Overall it was one great festival of Rock bands. With Thoughts And Notions bringing along a very different but inspiring set.
